Check that Punta Sabbioni fits your route

Punta Sabbioni is a connection point on the Cavallino-Treporti side of the lagoon, with a bus terminal, parking and water transport. It is a useful option to investigate when your stay is on this side of the lagoon. It is not the same arrival point as Venezia Santa Lucia railway station or Venice Marco Polo Airport.

Start with your accommodation’s actual address and your first destination in Venice. Compare the entire journey, including the walk at each end. A route that looks short on a map may involve a bus, a boat and another walk with luggage.

Official starting point: Venezia Unica’s Punta Sabbioni arrival information.

Arriving by bus

Use ATVO’s current route and timetable pages to check the journey from your starting point. ATVO describes its Punta Sabbioni stop as near the boats for Venice and the islands. Even so, leave time to find your specific landing and arrange the right boat ticket.

  1. Enter the exact starting stop. A town name is not enough if your hotel is some distance from its bus station. Ask the accommodation which stop is practical on foot.
  2. Check the operating date. Read the timetable’s validity period and any weekday, holiday or seasonal notes. A saved summer schedule may not describe an autumn journey.
  3. Choose the boat after the bus. Leave a connection buffer; a bus arriving at the boat’s departure time is not a workable plan.
  4. Check the return in reverse. Find the last suitable bus first, then select a boat that reaches Punta Sabbioni with time to transfer. Save an earlier alternative.

Check bus and boat ticket requirements separately. A waterbus pass should not be assumed to cover another company’s bus service.

Arriving by car

Navigate to the specific car park you have selected, not just to the general terminal area. Confirm its entrance and access instructions before leaving. Our parking guide explains the questions to ask about charging periods, evening access and oversized vehicles.

Set three times on your plan: when to reach the car park, when to be at the landing, and when the boat leaves. This makes the hidden tasks visible. If your group has different walking speeds, allow everyone to arrive together without a last-minute rush.

After parking, check your boat route and its arrival landing. San Marco and the northern lagoon call for different route decisions. Do not board solely because a sign says Venice.

Arriving from an airport or a cruise

If you are arriving at an airport, compare the airport’s official transfer options with the instructions from your accommodation. Do not add a trip to Punta Sabbioni automatically. The best route depends on where you will sleep, how much luggage you have and when you arrive.

For a cruise connection, use the embarkation address supplied for your sailing. A ship’s itinerary listing “Venice” is not sufficient to identify a terminal. Plan backward from the cruise line’s required arrival time and confirm the transfer with the relevant operator.

If you are spending the night in Venice before a departure, protect that evening from a complicated sequence of transfers. An extra stop that adds little to the visit can make a luggage day unnecessarily tiring.

Your final departure checklist

Recheck service notices shortly before leaving. This guide supplies a planning sequence; operators’ current information determines what is running.
